Day for Reading

Often times during school I allow the kids to read without an agenda. My husband and I feel that when they're reading for fun, they're learning alot more then when they're trying to fulfill an assignment given by mom. The only stipulation is, is that it has to be somewhat of an educational source. I usually let them choose the subject of their choice. It's amazing what they're teaching me from what they're reading.
Today was a reading day!!

"B" reading about Dinosaurs

"D" reading one of his favorites from Schuler's:
American History
"E" reading about Nat and Al

.....And then there's me finding ideas for tomorrow :)
I love my job!

  1. You are too enjoyable. I have that book too, and it's got some great ideas. I find the best way is to get out of books and into life. Life teaches things the best and so much curriculum is based in reading and reading. I am challenging myself and the kids to be more hands on!

Please stop by my blog today to enter in the final chances for this weeks giveaway if you have time!

  5. Hello Amy! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your wonderful comments! I need to start by saying that when I saw your sidebar and the Anne of Green Gables photo I got a huge smile... I have loved it for years and no one in my house gets that. They think it's kind of corny... I love it! Also, I LOVE Max Lucado! ok that's 2 for 2! Now get this... Portland is just down the road from GR! I am loving blogging and am fairly new to it but meeting like minds is bringing me such joy. I am so impressed by people who homeschool their children I don't think I have the organizational skills to do it, really my brain is EVERYWHERE at all times! Someone I follow who homeschools and talks about it once in awhile is listed on my sidebar as my weblog. Her blog is actually called Bushel and a Peck and it is wonderful. Wow this is a realllllly long comment! Stop by again soon, Theresa
