Cloudy with a chance of hail?

It's dark and rainy outside our window this morning. I love spring and storms!
All of a sudden around 10:30 this morning we hear loud banging noises on the outside of our house. When we looked outside, this is what we saw.

The kids were so excited to see it hailing outside.
They studied hail in their science books and this morning was their chance to see it for themselves. It was fun to have this "hands on" science lesson. Wonder what we'll discover tomorrow....

  1. We had terrible hail a few weeks ago! The horses were in the barn and terrified. Everyone was whinnying and snorting! Except Annie, who just stood next to Mom, and couldn't figure out what all the rukus was about :)

Have a wonderful day, in spite of the hail!

  2. That is some really large hail. The biggest I have ever seen. Ours are only the size of peas but I have heard of soft ball sized ones too. Thankful yours weren't that big.

Please stop by my blog today to meet a blogger in need of help!

  4. We had some hail yesterday afternoon too. Really surprised me. My 3 year old decided it was good to eat. ;) Just glad it came down before all the crops are in...maybe that will be it for the season. A girl can dream, can't she?! :)

  5. I love to watch storms. However, the longer I'm here in GA, the more I don't miss the Kansas storms. I've been in a building that was hit by a tornado. We were on the news. It's a scary things. We saw it coming form down the street. Then, we had another time where I barely got the kids from the upstairs to the basement, before a microburst hit, nad took off most of our shingles...along with porches and trees from other people's properites. Most of the storms here are pretty safe..some hail, occasionally...rarely ever a tornado. So, I like watching the lightning storms, and hearing the thunder, knowing that we're not in too much danger!

I'm glad your kids got some hands on learning!

  6. I've heard of big hail... but it is not usually so large around here. We've had some science lessons like those, though. Hmmm... there's a rainbow... let's see what makes it. And the rest of the day is buried in rainbows. Fun!
