A little this and that

It's been a few days since my last post. I thought I would actually be posting more than I have, but with four kids and other things in life, teaching school, housework...I don't get the time to just plop down and type away. Especially when there is a 21 month old little girl tugging at my arm.
Today it's really dreary here but it's still beautiful with the leaves on the trees, and all over the ground now. I've decided not to rake up my back yard this year. Half the time we rake and rake and rake and we still don't manage to get all the leaves up. Besides when they're wet all the time, that makes it difficult too. It's too beautiful when they're all over the ground. I'd rather see the leaves then snow!!
Saturday is Halloween and I don't know about how your family does the day but my husband and I tend to let the kids get dressed up a little and go trick-or- treating. Lately my 5yr. old daughter has been saying she wants to be a mommy. She wants to be a mommy when she grows up and for Halloween. Wow! Does that take me back a little! That's one costume you won't find in the stores. It makes me wonder what she really means, I mean what's behind that? I am deeply honored to hear her say that! To me, in a way, she's saying I want to be just like my mommy. That is so neat! I have a big challenge ahead of me to see that that dream or wish of hers doesn't get over-shadowed by the cares of this world. So many things are thrown at kids these days, you usually don't hear them say they want to be like you someday. So yeah I've decided that ok she can dress up to be like a mommy for Saturday, carry her baby around and let herself imagine that she's a mom for the moment. I thought I would let her (with our guidance naturally) pick out what she should wear as a mommy. It'll be interesting to see in her eyes what a mommy looks like. It will also be interesting to see what the public thinks of her costume : )
......"You want to me a mommy honey, you go ahead and be a mommy, it's the best job in the whole world!!"
Glad to share my cup of coffee with you. Until next time.......

  1. Amy,

What a great idea for a costume. I wonder why I never thought of that growing up? Probably too immersed in the fairy tales I was being told so that is where all the princess stuff came from.

I agree though, besides being a parent, there is no greater joy in life! I too, am now following your blog. Here is hoping that lots of people follow.

We too, attend trick or treating, because we try to shine a light in the world on that day and rather than let that day belong to the world, we are using it for God's glory!

    Love and Hugs ~Kat
